The best time to visit Da Nang is from the months of February to May. The rainfall is highest during the months of September to January. On the other hand, there is an influx of domestic tourists during the summer months, which is from June to August.

Summer in Da Nang

The summer season in Da Nang is from June to August. It is the best time to go if you want to enjoy the beach since the sizzling tropical temperature can reach an average of 26 to 36 degrees Celsius. At the same time, you might want to avoid visiting Da Nang in the summer because it is also one of the peak seasons. 

Monsoon Season

The monsoon season in Da Nang starts in the month of September and can extend until March. Expect steady rainfall from September to January. It is a good time to go to Da Nang if you want to avoid the extreme heat of the tropical climate. But it is also to be avoided as the rain comes in short bursts, which leaves you with little chance to do some exploration.

Da Nang belongs to the south-central coast of Vietnam. If you are staying in North Vietnam and you want to visit Da Nang, there are plenty of transportation options available. You can take the bus, train, rent a motorbike, or drive your own vehicle to get to this part of the country.

By Bus

If you are travelling from Hanoi or other parts of Northern Vietnam, the bus is one of the best options to get to Da Nang. There are several bus routes from Hanoi or Hue that travel to Da Nang–with at least one leaving every half hour. You can purchase your ticket directly at the bus terminal when you arrive, or you can book one via a travel agency. 

The distance from Hanoi to Da Nang is 780 kilometres, which will be about 16 to 18 hours (depending on how many stops there are). The ticket price is anywhere from 400,000 to 500,000 Vietnamese Dong ($15 to $23). Two of the major bus lines that operate in this route are Hoang Long Bus and Futabus (Phuong Trang) Bus.

By Train

Da Nang is a key stop for many train routes in Vietnam, both for south- and north-bound trains. Just like the bus, the train ride can also take approximately 15 to 16 hours. You can buy your train tickets up to 60 days prior to your departure. You may buy your ticket at the train station or ahead of time via your hotel or online.

The Da Nang railway station is located in No. 202, Hai Phong Street, Da Nang City. This station is served by the Reunification Express trains. The train routes that head to Da Nang include stops at Hue, Lang Co, Quang Ngai, Tuy Hoa, and Nha Trang. The ticket prices can range from 40,000 to 204,000 VND depending on which stop you choose.

By Plane

Going to Da Nang by air is the most convenient way to travel to this part of Vietnam. There are daily flights from various airlines, such as Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air, to Da Nang International Airport. The average cost of a ticket to Da Nang is anywhere from 55 to 80 Euros. The average flight time from Hanoi or other northern cities to Da Nang is approximately one hour and 20 minutes.

By Motorbike

Renting a motorbike is another go-to transportation option for those who like to go to Da Nang. There are many motorbike rental companies in Hanoi, with bikes costing about 11 Euros a day or 300,000 VND or you can buy a motorbike in Hanoi for $280-$300. You can also rent from Hue to travel around Hue, drive to Da Nang and go to Hoi An.

A motorbike journey is not the most comfortable travel option to Da Nang. But a lot of tourists prefer this because it gives them the opportunity to explore many stops along the way. You can spend three to four hours driving a day and then make stops at Tam Coc for the limestone caves and rock formations. Other famous stops along this route are Thai Hoa, Ha Tinh, Dong Hoi, and Phong Nha, which features beautiful caves.

HOW TO GET TO DA NANG FROM THE SOUTH OF VIETNAM

If you are from Ho Chi Minh or other parts of Southern Vietnam, you have plenty of transportation options to Da Nang. Take note of the ones available to help you plan your trip.

By Bus

Taking the bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang is another cheap option. The ticket prices for buses to Da Nang can range from 350,000 to 420,000 VND. You can choose to book a day bus or a sleeper bus to get to Da Nang. You can purchase tickets directly at the bus station or via the bus company ahead of time.

On average, a bus ride can take 18 to 20 hours to get to Da Nang (from Ho Chi Minh City). On your travel from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang, you will make a few stops along the way. You can get off at Mui Ne or Hoi An and then take the next bus to Da Nang. This will be a great way to see as many destinations as possible and maximize the long travel time in getting to your destination.

Taking the train from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang is the best and safest option. The average travel time is from 9 to 10 hours, depending on the type of train you book. The cost of your train ticket starts at 400,000 and can be as high as 1,000,000 VND. It is a safe yet budget-friendly option for travellers. 

When booking your train ticket, check to see routes headed for Da Nang Railway station. It is one of the largest railway stations in Vietnam. There are daily trips from north to south and vice versa that pass by this train station.

As a train ride can last for a long time, it would be a good idea to break down your travel and make stops along the way in Phan Thiet or Nha Trang.

The fastest and most efficient way to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang is via plane. The duration of your travel will be one to 1.5 hours. It is time-saving and convenient. The ticket prices range from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000, depending on how far ahead you booked your plane tickets.

There are three major airlines that offer this route: Vietjet, Vietnam Airlines, and Jetstar. Vietnam Airlines has the most expensive ticket prices, but they also offer the best service. If convenience is more important to you, this is the best travel option available to get to Da Nang. From Ho Chi Minh City, you can catch your flight at Tan Son Nhat Airport.

By Motorbike

Renting a motorbike is a popular mode of transportation in Vietnam. You can also rent one if you want to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang. But it is a dangerous and exhausting option, so make sure to take a few stops along the way so you have the chance to rest and go sightseeing. The average cost of a motorbike rental to get to Da Nang is 200,000 to 350,000 VND per day.

The decision to hire a motorbike is recommended for those who want to enjoy scenic views along the way. Taking the Uncle Ho’s Road is recommended for those who want to see the beauty of Vietnam’s mountainous areas as you will pass by tea and timber plantations, limestone wonderlands, and the Truong Son Range. The Classic Route is also recommended if you are riding a motorbike so you can enjoy equal parts of mountains and beaches along your drive.
